George Washington Carver was born to enslaved farmers in 1864. He enrolled as the first African American student at Iowa's Simpson College, and earned a degree in agricultural science. Carver developed hundreds of products like farm plants such as the peanut and the sweet potato. He was an amazing inventor and scientist. Carver died in 1943.
