• At what temperature do Crayola Crayons melt?

  The basic ingredients contained in Crayola® Crayons are paraffin wax and color pigment. These ingredients are the same for all Crayola Crayon colors, with some modifications in special effects crayons.

  
  

  Crayola Crayons begin to melt at around 105° Fahrenheit and have a melting point between 120° - 147° Fahrenheit. The melting point is the same for all regular Crayola Crayons; however, the density and amount of pigment included in different crayons will result in varying thickness or viscosity of the mixture.

• What is the largest box of Crayola Crayons available for purchase?

  The largest box of Crayola® Crayons available is our 120 count set, featuring a wide variety of colors from our classic palette, making it perfect for creative adventures.  

  We also offer the 152 count Ultimate Crayon Collection in a caddy, featuring 120 regular crayons, plus 16 metallic and 16 glitter crayons!

• Why don't Crayola Crayon label colors match the crayons?

  We currently use 12 different colored labels for CRAYOLA Crayons. The labels are purchased through an outside vendor and made of either vat dyed construction paper or printed paper and reforested wood. We manufacture more than 120 different Crayola Crayon colors, however, we do not have a crayon label to match each of these colors.

• When was the built-in sharpener first introduced to a Crayola Crayon box?

  In 1958 the box of 64 CRAYOLA Crayons was introduced. It was the first package to include a built-in sharpener design. We continue to manufacture this package design today in the 64 and 96 count Crayola Crayon package.

• How many crayon colors does Crayola make?

  Crayola® Crayons are made in 148 unique colors, but don’t stop counting there! Some colors are offered in special effects, further expanding our color selection with specialty crayons like glitter, pearl, confetti, metallic, bold & bright, and more!
